Vedic Concept
Upanishads
Ātman is a central idea in all the Upanishads, and “Know your Ātman” their thematic focus. These texts state that the core of every person’s self is not the body, nor the mind, nor the ego, but Ātman – “Soul” or “Self”. Atman is the spiritual essence in all creatures, their real innermost essential being. It is eternal, it is the essence, it is ageless.
What is Kāraka?
Kāraka is derived from the words kara meaning (1) the hand which is the body part for enterprise and action or (2) to do indicating the action involved in doing something. Ka refers to prajāpati as the creator and indicates material manifestation.
Houses as Kāraka
Based on the first meaning, kāraka refers to the divisions of the sky as signs, houses or mansions created by the movements of the Sun, Moon and other planets that signify the events and different activities of the entity. These are called ‘bhāva kāraka’.
PJC-5 Syllabus
The syllabus for each academic year of the PJC is based on Topics which include some chapters of the monumental classic under study – Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra. Please note that while we intend to complete each Academic Year in a calendar year, this may not happen as it is possible that the students are likely to take more time for this. In the past we have found the correlation to be about two calendar years for each Academic Year.
Secondly, the Fees quoted for each PJC Year relate to the entire Academic Year.

Welcome
Welcome to the Parāśara Jyotisa Course Year-3
You have taken a monumental decision to study this great classic of Maharṣi Parāśara. It contains 100 Chapters and although we have planned to complete it in 6 years, we shall do our best to stick to this schedule. However, you can take more or less time depending on the amount of time you have to devote to jyotiṣa every day.
